Macaroni Grill

23 09 2008

The other day i got a call from Megan, assistant to lead producer Wes Watson, that all the leaders from the production team were going to have a meeting at the Macaroni Grill of off Providence Road.  Even though i was late cause of school, I am glad that i went.  Being around people from Elevation cant compare to being around other people.  There is such a big presence from God all the time, it just cant be described in words. I had a blast being able to hang out with such great people of God.

It was my very first time going to the Macaroni Grill, and let me just say it was AWESOME.  The food was incredible.  I just wanna thank Wes Watson and Larry Hubatka for treating all of us, and for just a fun night together with friends and Elevators. I had a blast.

Elevation Church & Chatlotte Observer

19 09 2008

This past Sunday Tim Funk, from Charlotte Observer, wrote a newspaper article on Elevation Church, which ended up on the front page of Sunday’s paper.  Funk did an fantasic job describing what Elevation is all about.  By clicking on the link below you can go to the online-article and leave/read comments. Elevation Church has one main purpose here in Charlotte, NC: “So that people far from God will be filled with Life in Christ”.

I hope you enjoy. 🙂

Drag Racing

15 09 2008

So today was just an amazing day all together. Even tho i had to get up early, it was well worth it.  I was able to go to the new Bruton Smith Drag Strip. I was amazed of how big this track was.  I was told that this drag strip id the biggest of them all here in the United States, and it is located only about 45 minutes from my house.  Which is very convenient for me, since i love drag racing. Drag racing is a very fun, yet dangerous sport.  When you see a drag car go from 0 – 310 mph in about 4.5 seconds, you know there is some major horespower under those hoods.

Today, i had the chance to go see these monsterous cars, and see how powerfull they really are.  My dad got a hold of some VIP tickets for todays race. I had the honor of meeting Victor Cagnazzi, the owner of Cagnazzi Racing. For Cagnazzi being well worth over a million dollars, he sure does not act like he has money. Yes, his T-Shirt might be made out of some of the best materials you could find, but still, he acts like a regular person. He is not one to brag of how much money he has. He is very friendly, and can be funny at times.  My dad and I had the honor to talk to Cagnazzi and his Director of Business Development, Steve Barnes. Instead of sitting outside in the heat, we were able to go sit in the VIP Lounge, where it was nice and cool.  We also got to be some of the racers, like Dave Conolly and Shane Tucker.

All in all, it was a fantastic day, that i got to share with my dad. below are some pictures and video clips that i took as we were sitting on the bleachers:

Rediculous Gas Prices

13 09 2008

So, after i got off of work i decided to drive around and try to find a gas station that still has somewhat of cheap gas. After driving fro like ten minutes a finally found one that still sold gas for $3.75 per gallon. I never tought that i would be happy to pay so much for gas, but compared to all the other gas stations, it was cheap.  Then on my way home i came across a gas station and i could not believe my eyes.  It was $5.39 for for one gallon of gas, i almost got into a wreck when i saw that.

Now here is the funny part about it. When i drove into the gas station to take the picture above, i saw a police office getting gas. I was wondering why he was getting gas here for $5.39 when across the street the gas was only $3.79.  I’m telling you guys, people dont make sense anymore, they would rather pay the larger amount, then getting into their cars and drive a few feet to save them some money.  Why have peole become so lazy these days? I dont understand it.

Its GO-GO-GO all week long

10 09 2008

So school is really kicking my butt this semester. i think i have like 16 – 18 credit hours, five classes all together.  It would nnot be to bad if i would not have to work while im going to school, but i guess thats just life.  but let me tell you, if you dont mange your time visely you will not be able to do what im doing right now. I have to sacrafice so much in order for me to keep up my school, be at work on time, and TRY to have some free time inbetween.  Most of my free time is on sundays when i got to Elevation Church!

My schedule at school is at follows:

  • Math – Mondays and Wednesdays from 8:00 AM to 9:15 AM
  • Math Lab – Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 AM to 8:50 AM
  • English – Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM
  • Biology – Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:00 AM to 12:15PM
  • Biology Lab – Tuesdays from 3:00 PM to 6:20 PM
  • Business – Any day i want!! 🙂 (Its an online class)

As you can see, school takes up most of my week, and the rest would be work. Eveyday day its always GO-GO-GO for me, there is not time to rest anymore. I get up at 6:30 AM every morning from Monday to Thursday, and i have to be in class by 8:00 AM. Once i get out of my last class its usually straight to work, then home and do my homework and studies for school. Then its nighty-night for me.  Fridays and Saturdays i usually work a pretty long shift that always ends up with me closing and my weekned being ruined. Sundays is the only day on the weekend that i do not, reason for that, CHURCH.

Since Elevation is still a portable Church we have to set up all of the equipment before service (thats going to be another post) Anyways, Sundays i have to get up at 5:20 AM and leave my house by 5:30AM in order for me to make it all the way to the McGlohon Theater in Uptown.  I dont get out of church until sometime around 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM depending on if i go to the Butler campus after i get done at McGlohon. So there goes have of my Sunday (A VERY good half of a Sunday)

After church i usually go out to eath with my friend Thomas and then go and chill/relax for the rest of my day. Then, the same week starts over with no breaks and no room to slak of, not even for a minute. Its always GO-GO-GO!!!
